Lumina Corps

Lumina Corps is seeking a senior leader to oversee a team providing virtual and in-person conference services for high-profile federal government clients. This leader will organize and oversee the planning and execution for hundreds of virtual and in-person meetings and conferences per year for science and public health programs. Ideal candidates will have experience leading teams to plan and manage multiple concurrent in-person, virtual, and hybrid meetings.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team of meeting planners and associates to develop, plan, organize, and execute logistical support across multiple contracts with concurrent virtual and in-person meetings
  • Work directly with clients to identify new opportunities, fulfill logistical services requests and ensure timely, high-quality service
  • Take ownership of evolving and advancing the company’s approach to hybrid meeting planning and execution
  • Understand and provide counsel to clients on best practices; know industry standards and policies
  • Ensure client satisfaction, including complete execution of conference contracts and tasks, and overseeing vendors and subcontractors
  • Develop and manage budgeting and forecasting for the conference group, including managing on-contract spending, preparing monthly staff utilization projections, and providing project estimates
  • Supervise and coach staff as they organize and coordinate logistical details such as venue set-up, registration and check-in, audio-visual arrangements, and travel management.
  • Lead business development efforts to identify new opportunities, participate in decision making, develop and submit technical and business proposal responses.
  • Be a team culture leader, coaching and mentoring staff development and growth.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of work experience in event management, hospitality, or meeting planning in a professional services consulting environment
  • At least 5 years of supervisory, team leadership experience
  • At least 5 years of experience directly developing and managing budgets and project teams for multiple contracts concurrently
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certifications as a meeting professional (CGMP, CMP)
  • Experience hosting meetings on virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom, Webex, and others
  • Experience leading in a professional services agency
  • Experience with contract budget management
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and be organized when contributing to several projects at once
  • Keen attention to detail and expertise in managing timelines
  • Positive, solutions-oriented, customer-service mindset, able to be flexible to take on large or small tasks as needs arise.

This full-time position with benefits will be initially fully remote; hybrid and fully remote schedules are permitted (LOCAL candidates preferred). This position will require in-person meeting support in Washington, D.C. area conference venues. Lumina Corps headquarters is located in Silver Spring, Maryland.
